Has your Air Conditioner Stopped Working? is your AC not blowing cold air? Do You Need Your Air Conditioner Repaired Fast? Contact us for immediate service.
If you find your air conditioner is not cooling, here are some of the first steps you can take to see if it is possibly just a simple DIY project, or if you need to call an experienced HVAC technician to come and repair your air conditioner.
1. Change your filters. Dirty filters reduce the airflow across your evaporator coils. When not enough air is flowing through the evaporator, the refrigerant is not properly heated up
(your air gets cooled) and the refrigerant may stay so cold that it begins to freeze up the evaporator coil.
2. Check if the outside fan and compressor are running. If the outside fan is not running the indoor heat is not being removed from the refrigerant and your house stays warm. If the compressor isn’t working, then the system is not circulating the refrigerant which is what carries the heat from inside your home to the outside.
3. Check to make sure nothing is blocking the vents and returns. Like changing the filters, blocking the vents or returns can reduce the airflow through the evaporator coil preventing the refrigerant from chilling the indoor air.
If you have gone through these steps and find that your air conditioning unit is still not cooling your home. Give us a call. When you call the technician, it will be helpful that you share with them the diagnostic steps you have taken. This will help them to better determine what it may be, and for sure what it is not which will prepare them when they come to your home.
